Meet Our Principal

Ethel Zamora is originally from Brownsville, TX, and grew up in Monterrey, Mexico.
She was raised in a bicultural household, which shaped her deep understanding of the immigrant journey and her passion for world languages and diversity. Her track record of commitment and perseverance in her school leadership experience, and her vision and student-centered approach, made her the ideal candidate to contribute to the success of Jerry R. Junkins Elementary School.
Her career in public education started in 2013. She served as a two-way dual language in Irving ISD and Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. After her years in the classroom, she joined the CFB ISD central staff as Bilingual/ESL Instructional Specialist serving PK-12 teachers across the district through professional development and coaching in biliteracy and best ESL practices.
In 2021, Zamora joined Dallas ISD as Assistant Principal at Francisco "Pancho" Medrano Junior High School. In her two years at Medrano, she led her reading department to improve student achievement in reading, helping the school to obtain its first B ratings from the state.
Dr. Zamora became the principal of Julian T. Saldivar Elementary School in 2023. As principal, she led meaningful progress, where academic performance and student engagement saw measurable improvement under her leadership. Zamora implemented strategic initiatives that fostered a culture of growth, strengthened community partnerships, and laid a strong foundation for continued success.
