Jerry Junkins Elementary School is named for Jerry Junkins, the former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for Texas Instruments.  Friends of Jerry Junkins say that his passion was improving education, and give as an example that he utilized TI's influence to help create model Head Start programs in the Dallas Independent School District.  He also was Chairman of the Citizens Council Education Committee, and fought for education reform in Texas schools by promoting measurement and accountability in the classroom. In 1995, Junkins was recognized for his work in early childhood education with the John B. Connally Award from the Just for the Kids Foundation. Jerry Junkins Elementary is proud it is named for one of education's biggest advocates!

Jerry Junkins Elementary is a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, technology and science focused school. Junkins is a Dallas Independent School District school located in Carrollton, Texas! The school opened its doors to students for the first time on August 14, 2006. Currently, the projected ethnic enrollment is 36% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 29% African American and 22% Caucasian.

Junkins’ teachers will offer differentiated instruction across all content areas, challenging programming, and have high expectations for all students! A rigorous and competitive math program will be implemented to offer additional challenging opportunities for students. All students will be responsible for creating yearly technology and science projects. Junkins offers a Science Club and Science programs thru DASA. Each classroom comes equipped with a drop down in-focus machine that is managed wirelessly, computers, as well as the use of Interactive Whiteboards amd Interactive Video Conferencing System for instructional presentations.  Junkins has a state-of-the-art website, school wide electronic grade books and web-based communications with the parents and the community.

A wide range of high-interest, exceptional programs will be offered including, but not limited to:

  • Tutoring in Reading, Writing, Science, and Math
  • Musical Performances
Junkins has very supportive, friendly and active PTA and SBDM organizations. The faculty, parents, businesses and community members have embraced to ensure Junkins is an "Exemplary" school.
